On Sunday, 13 August, we will celebrate our Second Annual Parish Patronal Festival at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin. The Right Reverend Henry Joseph King, Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of the Pacific and Southwest, will be present at 10 am to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation, celebrate a High Mass, and preach the sermon.

The Patronal is celebrated at Saint Mary’s on or nearest the Feast of the Dormition (the “Falling Asleep” of the Blessed Virgin Mary), also entitled the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. The service will commence at the Lady Shrine with special prayers and the placing of a floral garland upon the statue of the Blessed Virgin by one of the children of the parish.

A service of the recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the Patronal Mass, beginning in the Church at 9:15 am, lasting about twenty minutes, conducted by Steven Gallardo. This special devotion, requested by the laity, is in conjunction with the Patronal and is optional and voluntary. All are cordially invited to participate. Should you happen to enter the Church during this devotion, please do so quietly out of respect to those engaged in the Rosary.
